More like 2 Much

This morning I woke up to the news that Russia had invaded Ukraine.  Yesterday I found out a pretty cool member of our community passed away. Tuesday morning, I found an injured deer in the ditch on my way to work, I had my husband call a conservation agent to put it out of its misery.  On Monday I found out that one of our patrons lost their sweet, precious boy. On that same day I saw a story about a young man from Eugene that had taken his life, less than a year after another student from that same school took her life.  Uggghhh.

This week we enjoyed my daughter’s ¼ of a century birthday on Tuesday.  That day was “special”, it was a 2’s day, February 22, 2022.  2-22-2022.  People have been talking about this upcoming day for quite some time.

Enjoy this excerpt from The New York Post: CelticSeer, a native of Ireland who does readings online, said all those 2s must be added to divine their significance. “In numerology, you reduce,” she said. “So 2/22/2022 adds up to 12. Then you add the 1 and 2 to get, blah, blah, blah, more numbers…It’s like a new beginning and also self-expression. That’s a very powerful tool.” Astrologers also say that the United States will experience its first Pluto Return — in this case, the first time the planet, which is associated with transformation and power, will come back to the position it was when the Declaration of Independence was signed and ratified on July 4, 1776. As a result, they predict radical power shifts.  According to Horoscope.com writer Shereen Campbell, “Pluto Returns in France and Russia marked the deaths of Napoleon and Stalin. Spanish dictator Francisco Franco relinquished power during Spain’s last Pluto Return. Some even argue that the UK’s last Pluto Return coincides with their unofficial fall from world leader status. But one expert dampened expectations. “Twosday carries absolutely no historical significance or any cosmic message,” posted Barry Markovsky, a sociology professor at the University of South Carolina, on MSN.com. “Yet it does speak volumes about our brains and cultures. They’re (popular interactions) nearly always absurd from a scientific perspective, but they’re great for illustrating how brains, people, groups and cultures work together to create shared meaning.”

Hmmm.  I don’t know what I think about all those remarks, but I will recognize that this has been a pretty trying week.  It has seemed dark and sad, but like Markovsky said, we find ways to work together to create shared meaning.  Why did all these awful things happen, how do we go forward?

I think we have to focus on whatever positive that we can grab ahold of.  Russian and Ukraine, I am hoping that the world, yep all the other countries side with the Ukraine.  I am not being political; I just want it to stop.  We can take the time to watch the many live videos that cool man shared, enjoy those BBQing ones.  After I found that poor deer, not even 50ft from it, I saw 9 big ol’ wild turkeys, a glimpse of the beauty nature also has to offer.  That sweet boy, I have been reading all the wonderful posts his mamma has been sharing.  He was a reader; you know I love that.  A post was shared about him visiting a free library (hosted by a Board member) and it just made me appreciate how great our community can be.  That boy in Eugene, well, look that one up.  You have to watch what a bunch of truckers did for his family, not our community, but, boy, talk about a glimpse of beauty in a time of sorrow.  May we continue to focus on uplifting all the humans.

Twosday, more like Twomuch.  Be kind folks, love your people, slow down and appreciate all the moments.  Snuggle up with a book with your kiddos tonight, keep the humans (and animals) that are having a difficult week close to your heart.
